"Day of silence" in Russia
Russia has declared a day of silence that began at midnight. The day was declared ahead of the Russian presidential elections by the order prescribed by the law.
Today, propaganda and surveys devoted to the elections are prohibited.
The "day of silence" will let voters cast their votes knowingly and without any pressure.
Even though the "day of silence" lasts a day, in terms of hours it will last until the polls close, that is, at 21:00 on March 4, reports ITAR-TASS.
The propaganda ban on the day of the elections can only be violated, if calls are made on radio and television.
The Central Electoral Commission has announced that all polls are 100 percent ready for the elections.
The Russian CEC has promised to announce the initial results on the morning of March 5 and the final results within 10 days.
The Russian presidential elections launched on November 26 and lasted three months with campaigns led by the five candidates, including Vladimir Putin, Sergey Mironov, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Mikhail Prokhorov and Genadi Zuganov. This year, the President of the Russian Federation will be elected for six years.
