Sarkozy assassination plot prevented
French police are reportedly investigating an assassination plot against the country's President Nicolas Sarkozy.
A man that "created the impression of being insane" has called Bordeaux's police station more that ten times, insulting the French President and claiming that he has been paid a "considerable amount of money to assassinate him," RIA Novosti says, citing Sud-Ouest.
Sarkozy is expected to visit Bordeaux on Saturday to meet his supporters. Since his campaign to get re-elected kicked off, he has made similar visits to Marseille, Lille, Montpellier and other cities.
On Monday, it emerged that a group of suspects have been arrested by Russian and Ukrainian special services on suspicions of attempting to assassinate Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who is running for a third term as president.
