Book-album dedicated to Ani published
2011 marked the 1050th anniversary of Armenian medieval capital Ani. A book-album depicting the history and cultural heritage of Ani was published in Yerevan at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture.
While presenting the book to journalists in Yerevan, Samvel Karapetyan, head of a foundation studying the Armenian architecture, said the book is available in three languages - Armenian, Russian and English. The book is unique as it provides detailed information on constructions never measured in the past and presents more than 600 photos of monuments and maps.
According to Samvel Karapetyan, both 19th century and contemporary photos have been used. The album also has a supplementary sheet, which features the city's map. It has several sections, each featuring different architectural monuments -churches, khachkars (cross-stones) and other buildings.
The book is issued in 900 copies and is intended for both professionals and ordinary readers.
