Catholicos also sends letter
On January 24, His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians sent a letter of gratitude to President of France Nikola Sarkozy on the adoption of the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial by the Upper Chamber of the French Parliament.
In the message it is particularly stated: "From the spiritual center of all Armenians, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin we welcome and bring Our Patriarchal Blessing to you, the state figures of France and the fraternal Frenchmen, expressing the gratitude of our Holy Church and all Armenians across the globe for adopting the law criminalizing denial of genocides in the French Senate.
All Armenians around the world are rejoiced. The French Senate sounded the voice of justice once again. It was the victory that all Armenians had been expecting for a century. Today, the warm friendship between Armenian and French nations is warmer with a new achievement in the protection of the rights of humans and nations. It sheds light on the memory of the Armenian martyrs and strengthens the faith in international condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
The adopted law shows your zeal, as well as the zeal of the French government and the people toward democratic principles and universal values, the strengthening of which will rule out violence and tragic crimes against humanity around the world."
