Turkey threatens the world
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan is currently discussing the French Senate's adoption of the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial in the Turkish parliament.
"Those who believe Turkey won't take steps and won't defend itself from the unjust allegations don't know the Turks well and don't know how determined Turkey is," Erdogan declared.
The Turkish Prime Minister's speech is being broadcast live on Euronews. The Euronews commentator informed that the Turkish state TRT television has already threatened to end collaboration with Euronews. TRT has been collaborating with Euronews since 2009 and holds 15 percent of the company's shares.
Erdogan continues and says the French Senate is showing racism against the Turks with the adoption of this bill.
Erdogan also scolded President of France Sarkozy.
"Sarkozy has forgotten that his grandfather, Nikola Sarkozy senior was a Jew who was deported from Spain and took refuge in Ottoman Turkey. He shouldn't forget the people who were friendly to his ancestors," Erdogan mentioned.
"Doesn't exist for Turkey"
In his speech to deputies of the Mili Mejlis, Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan stressed that the Senate's law "doesn't exist for Turkey".
Erdogan called on the French Senators who voted against the bill to address the Constitutional Council of France to consider the bill invalid. He also mentioned that friendly ties with France are history.
"Turkey is large country, and friendship with us is costly. France's racism doesn't allow Turkey to behave as it used to. This is discrimination, racism and it goes against the freedom of speech," Erdogan said.
He reiterated the claim that Sarkozy is trying to "win in the elections at the price of Turkey" through this law.
"France is trying to be a big country, but if this situation continues, Turkey will take adequate steps in a couple of months," Erdogan threatened. In closing, he called on the French and the Turks to "not let the conflict escalate".
