Armenian, Russian leaders meet in Sochi
Presidents of Russia and Armenia, Dmitry Medvedev and Serzh Sargsyan met in Moscow on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues, Russian President's press service reported.
"Our meetings in Sochi in winter have become a good tradition," said Mr. Medvedev.
The Russian leader hailed the good relations between the two peoples in terms of trade and business ties. At the same time, President Medvedev noted that the situation is far from being perfect.
"Life is too difficult. There are a number of challenges, including in the region," he said.
In his turn, Serzh Sargsyan thanked his Russian counterpart for his efforts in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict and positively assessed the progress in bilateral relations.
"The meetings and your efforts allow us to have more or less controlled situation," the Armenian leader said adding that the commodity turnover between the two countries increased by 15% in 2011.
Dmitry Medvedev considered the Karabakh conflict to be the most complicated one in the region.
Presidents of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan are scheduled to meet in Sochi later in the day to discuss the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
