Film about "spy stone"
The BBC will soon air a 4-part documentary entitled "Putin, Russia and the West" in which the employee of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Jonathan Powell confesses that the UK placed the "spy stone" in Moscow.
The "spy stone" is a typical stone with a recording device inside and was found near one of the state departments in Moscow. The Russian government had kept the name of the department confidential.
In 2006, the Russia Rossiya Television showed the stone in which there was a recording device for the first time.
A short while after the screening of the film, Russian security officials revealed the four British spies of the UK Embassy in Moscow.
At the time, Tony Blair was informed about the scandal and gave a typical diplomatic answer, saying the UK wasn't preparing to comment on questions about security, except for the cases on which they wanted to comment.
"I think the less we talk about it, the better," the British PM had advised journalists, reports the BBC.
