CEC President had to agree
The Central Electoral Commission today discussed six issues on the agenda, including the issue of forming majoritarian precincts for the parliamentary elections.
The number of precincts has remained unchanged (41), but the boundaries and seats have undergone some changes.
"If that polling station is suddenly changed and if voters are offered to go to another polling station, this may cause more problems and more discomfort. It is obvious that this is not preferable," President of the RA CEC Tigran Mukuchyan said.
However, he mentioned that he was forced to accept those changes based on the demands stated in the law.
The President of the Central Electoral Commission is certain that the new changes will ensure "fully fair and transparent" elections, which "will give each voter the opportunity to fully confide in their votes".
Tigran Mukuchyan said the concerns that the changes were made in order to make it appropriate for the candidates of the Republican Party of Armenia under the majoritarian order were absurd.
Since there have not been any changes in the maps of the precincts in the Kotayk and Syunik provinces, Tigran Mukuchyan was asked whether that was due to the presence of influential heads of provinces.
"I know one thing-according to the RA law, the provinces of Armenia belong to the Republic of Armenia," President of the CEC Tigran Mukuchyan said.
