"Can they exclude repetition of March 1 clashes?"
A revolution has begun in Armenia, Sardarapat movement member Jirayr Sefilyan told journalists on Dec. 28.
The revolution began in our minds and souls. However, unlike our Arab brothers who went out into streets to determine their future steps and as a result changed power, we must elaborate our future plans, since it is dangerous to keep the country in a long-lasting shock," he said.
Garegin Chukaszyan, another member of Sardarapat movement, underscored the need for ‘alternative government.'
"We should lay foundations for the forth republic, form an alternative parliament, convene a sitting and determine the constitutional basis for the future republic," he said.
Garegin Chukaszyan says we have appeared in a hole which was once dug by Msra Melik for David of Sassoun (an epic hero from the Daredevils of Sassoun who drove Arab invaders out of Armenia).
"Only through a pan-national movement shall we be able to come out of the hole," stressed the movement member.
According to Sardarapat member Tigran Khzmalyan, classical parties threaten them; cultural, environmental movements prove to have a greater potential, besides, their members demonstrate progressive thinking.
"Sardarapat is going to cooperate with them in its future initiatives and we already begun talks," said Mr. Khzmalyan.
He disapproves the initiative launched by the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun and Heritage which allegedly aims to conduct free and fair elections.
"What guarantees can they provide people if the March 1, 2008 tragic events are not disclosed? Can they exclude repetition of the March 1 clashes?" he concluded.
"Our goal is not a regime change, but the creation of new statehood. We won't rush, but will move forward with steady steps," said the group members.
