General-Lieutenant Manvel Grigoryan, Chairman of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union (YKM), has issued a message congratulating Armenians on Christmas and New Year.

"The passing year was full of various events. Our greatest achievement was that we have preserved peace which we gained several years ago at the cost of bitter struggle, bloodshed, great sacrifice and remarkable feats," the YKM chairman said in the message.

"Dear compatriots,
Great was the role of our volunteers, YKM members in the process of establishing statehood. They fought on the battlefield to create a decent future for Armenia and its people, promoting the formation of army, proclamation of independence and national security.

I congratulate all YKM members. We - the successors of Sparapet (Commander) Vazgen Sargsyan, must always bear with honour the holy calling of the country's defender and pass it to future generations. We recognize our historic and honorable responsibility in shaping the country's future. We take an oath to serve our statehood, our country and our people.

Yerkrapah continues to remain the guarantor of the independence of Armenia and Artsakh and advocate of strengthening statehood. We are eager to preserve our achievements and transfer them to new generations. I congratulate our soldiers especially those who are protecting our borders," said Manvel Grigoryan.

"Today, we are obliged to make dreams of our comrade-in-arms a reality and have prosperous, independent and powerful Armenia and Artsakh. We must believe in our youth.

New Year is a period of new achievements. I wish everybody a festive mood, strong faith to build a democratic and stable country, a will to overcome all hardships on our way and optimism to assess the progress.
May 2012 be a year of unity, stability and prosperity: Our strength lies in our unity," he concluded.
