Vardges Gaspary was forced to lie down
Armenian National Congress activist Vardges Gaspary today lied on the ground near the entrance to the court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash districts as a sign of protest.
Gaspary had come to participate in the trials of the cases against ANC youth activists Tigran Arakelyan, Sargis Gevorgyan, David Kiramijyan and Artak Karapetyan.
The youth activists were arrested after a clash with police officers near Swan Lake in Yerevan on August 9. Six of them have been released under the condition of not leaving the city, but Tigran Arakelyan is still in prison and is charged with applying force against a state representative.
In an interview with "A1+", Vardges Gaspary said he had not been allowed to enter the court and was brutally thrown out of the building. The court bailiffs said the judge had not allowed him to enter the premises.
We remind that the trial is open-door and any citizen can enter the courtroom and follow the trial according to the order prescribed by the law.
The ANC activist tried to get explanations and defend his rights, but police officers came, stood in front of the court and didn't let him enter.
Vardges Gaspary also said after a while, the bailiffs announced that there were free spots in the courtroom and that those wishing could enter. Only after this announcement did the people gathered outside, including Vardges Gaspary enter the courtroom.
