Navalny will become president, if...
Active Russian opposition member, well-known blogger Alexey Navalny has announced that he will be running for the presidential elections, if they are free and fair.
In an interview with Ekho Moskvi, Navalny said the 2012 elections would be illegitimate and that "Russians will never accept them".
According to the demands stated in Russia's Electoral Code, independent candidates who haven't been nominated by registered parties should collect 2 million signatures, but Navalny says that is impossible in such a short period.
Incumbent President of the Russian Federation Dmitri Medvedev has simplified the law on the nomination of presidential candidates in response to the thousand-man rallies held in Moscow and other Russian cities last Friday.
However, Alexey Navalny has announced that he will be fighting and will reach the point where the results of the elections will be declared invalid.
"Our fight is incessant and the victory is inevitable," Alexey Navalny said in an interview with the BBC.
When will that happen? In response to BBC's question, Navalny said "it all depended on the Russians". "We can do that tomorrow or a month later. It all depends on us."
