Hammarberg promised to help, but didn’t?
The murders of the 10 victims of 1 March 2008 won't be revealed. This is clearly established in the report released by the Special Investigative Service.
Summing up the activities of the past four years, the Special Investigative Service reports that it is impossible to identify the weapons and the pieces found in the bodies of the victims. The preliminary inquiry body also reports that even international experts haven't been able to suppor them in that matter.
Even though EU Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg had guaranteed that Irish expert Colin Barous could support the revelation of the murders during the visit to Yerevan in November 2008, according to the SIS, Barous had informed that it was impossible to identify the weapons after studying the materials regarding the special device called "Cheryomukha 7".
We remind that three of the ten victims, including Tigran Khachatryan, Gor Kloyan and Armen Farmanyan, died from shots fired from the "Cheryomukha-7".
It is known that there were four police officers that applied the "Cheryomukha-7" on March 1, but the officers don't say in which direction they shot. The preliminary inquiry body is putting up with the silence and isn't bringing any officer to justice for the murder. "What should we do? Should we punish all four officers by taking into account the fact that three people died from the shots fired by three officers?" one of the prosecutors Koryun Piloyan recently announced.
Whereas it is at least known who applied the "Cheryomukha 7" special device on March 1, the situation is more uncertain in the case of the other victims. Hovhannes Hovhannisyan died from a shot in the chest, Zakar Hovhannisyan died from a shot in the stomach, Grigor Grigoryan died from a shot in the head, David Petrosyan died from shots in the chest and Samvel Harutyunyan died from an open wound in his head.
Officer Hamlet Tadevosyan died from a grenade explosion, and temporary soldier Tigran Abgaryan died from a neck injury. There were many soldiers next to them, but the circumstances also haven't been revealed.
In any case, in its 132-page report, the Special Investigave Service has presented proposals regarding the studies presented by members of the March 1-2 Fact-Finding Group Andranik Kocharyan and Seda Safaryan in which the circumstances of the murders of Tigran Abgaryan and Hamlet Tadevosyan are presented.
The Special Investigative Service reports that the preliminary investigation into the 10 murders continues.
