Singing, not politics for The Dorians
Lead singer of the band The Dorians Gor Sujyan doesn't like to use the word "show business" that much and says he is not in that sphere. The band presented its first album called "Fly" to representatives of show business.
The Dorians came onto the music scene with the purpose of instilling in people love and sincerity. Rock has traditionally been considered a call for protest and upheaval, but Gor Sujyan tends to differ.
"We don't consider rock in Armenia a sign of protest to destroy everything. We are trying to awaken love in people. Many people think it is strange that rock should awaken love in people, but we have to show what is right," lead singer of the band Gor Sujyan said.
Even though The Dorians is considered one of the famous rock bands in Armenia, it has just released its first album.
"We entered show business because we sensed the lack of quality. The Dorians tried to awaken natural emotions," the lead singer said.
As a well-known band, Gor Sujyan says there might be attempts to engage the band in politics.
He mentioned that the band wouldn't decline any offer to sing during the campaigns of the upcoming parliamentary elections. "We won't be advocating for anyone. We are musicians and can play wherever. I am not advocating any political figure at the moment," the Armenian rock star said.
Will the band agree to participate in, say, the ANC's rallies?
"If we sing, we won't be advocating Levon Ter-Petrosyan. We will simply sing, but not for people to vote for this or that candidate," Sujyan said.
