Former prime minister Hrant Bagratyan was surprised today when journalists told him that Armenia had registered 4.5 percent growth this year.

According to him, the growth is 8 percent according to the National Statistical Service alone. However, Bagratyan said he had also read information about 15 percent economic growth in agriculture on the website of the National Statistical Service and still hasn't come to his senses.

"That Stepan [referring to Head of the RA National Statistical Service Stepan Mnatsakanyan-ed.] has been working there for the past 15 years. These types of workers are horrible. They should be sentenced so that nothing like this happens in this country again."

Hrant Bagratyan suggests that journalists count according to the statistics provided by the National Statistical Service. "There are 3 percent less people, 120,000 less people eating and we have produced 15 percent more. How do you think the prices should have been? They had to go down by 18 percent."

Bagratyan says he would have liked to have a blackboard at "Hayeli" Club to "write the figures and have the Prime Minister take a look at them".
