"The continuation of the talks between the Armenian National Congress and coalition government is not an end in itself," ANC Coordinator Levon Zurabyan told A1+.

While the sides suspended the dialogue, some Republican MPs recently expressed hope that the talks might resume in 2012.

"The dialogue cannot continue unless the authorities express readiness to make concessions towards establishing democracy. Otherwise, the dialogue will be pointless," said the ANC representative.

Under ‘concessions,' Levon Zurabyan means that the authorities should amend the Election Code, hold early parliamentary and presidential elections and form legitimate elections.

Regarding the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun's statement that extra-parliamentary opposition should back parliamentary opposition before the forthcoming parliamentary elections, the ANC represnattive said, "Let's put aside this obscure terminology (backing and supporting) and speak about equal cooperation over amendments to the Electoral Code and conduct of fair elections," Zurabyan said not excluding the cooperation between the ANC and ARF-D in that case.

The ANC coordinator says the Prosperous Armenia Party has neither accepted nor rejected the possible cooperation with the opposition alliance.

"So far, the party's political statements have been adequate to the situation. We have not addressed any question to the party and do not expect an answer either," he said.

Asked what especially he meant, Zuarbyan said, "Prosperous Armenia Party is subjected to pressure."
