Decision on elections adopted in Moscow

During the working visit to the Russian Federation, Serzh Sargsyan today participated in the non-official summit of the heads of CIS-member states devoted to the 20th anniversary of the CIS.

The heads of CIS-member states adopted a Declaration in which they affirmed their intention for the development of cooperation, the reinforcement of mutual understanding and partnership, the real improvement of people's lives, the increase in their welfare and the support to the increase in the level of efficiency of efforts for expanding mutual contacts.

The document states the strategic objectives for the development of cooperation in different spheres within the framework of the CIS. The heads of states expressed willingness to do everything possible to make sure the CIS remains an important factor for stability and security, a territory for mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as a politically, socially, economically stable region for the development of the humanities, science and technologies.

The heads of CIS-member states also discussed issues related to economic partnership between the CIS countries in 2012. They attached special importance to the partnership in the spheres of communication and level of information, and adopted the decision on increasing the role of observatory missions of the CIS in the elections.

Ending the working visit to the Russian Federation, President Serzh Sargsyan's delegation today returned to Yerevan.
