Lawyer Artur Sakunts says the quashing of the case against Governor of Syunik province Surik Khachatryan is mocking the society.

We remind that the Special Investigative Service has quashed the case, saying that hitting businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan once is still not considered a beating.

"I call those who quashed the case to come and let me slap them one by one and not instigate a case, if that is considered normal," Artur Sakunts said.

According to the case, on November 14, the governor met businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan at Armenia-Marriot Hotel, got into a dispute and beat her. Artur Sakunts said he expected this kind of an ending.

Republican MP Rafik Petrosyan says he was content with the quashing of the case since his notions of the beating fell in line with the decision taken by the Special Investigative Service.

"A beating assumes several actions, including slaps, hitting or pushing and shoving that lead to light injuries. A beating has to cause physical and psychological suffering. If he pulled her once, or pushed her aside, that is not considered a beating," MP Rafik Petrosyan told "A1+".

Rafik Petrosyan doesn't think the governor applied such force against businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan.

"There is a light slap that is disciplinary, and then there is a hit. Even though it causes an injury, touching a little or pulling the hand shouldn't be considered a beating. A beating is a series of actions," the representative of the legislative body explained.

Rafik Petrosyan is certain that Governor of Syunik province Surik Khachatryan had simply offended Silva Hambardzumyan, for which the businesswoman had appealed to the court.
