Police not in politics
Russian police officers no longer have the right to do business. They also can't fund or lead political parties.
These requirements are part of the modified version of the Russian Federatin's law "On Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs", which recently entered into force after Medvedev's ratification.
"This puts an end to all rumors that the police are involved in politics. The police are out of politics," Russian Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sergey Bulavin declared and added: "Some police officers are not working faithfully, and there will be strict measures and even removal from the system for those officers," according to ITAR-TASS.
The deputy minister also informed that from now on, all police officers are obliged to present a declaration regarding their incomes and the incomes of their families. False information will lead to the police officer's dismissal.
One of the requirements in the modified law is that investigative police officers must have higher education in law.
