All drivers need to wear safety belts
During the discussion on the draft law on making amendments in the RA law "On Violations of Administrative Law by the Police" presented by the government at the National Assembly, independent MP Ara Simonyan declared that it is inappropriate to wear safety belts especially in central Yerevan when drivers don't drive too fast.
Acting NA Chairman Samvel Nikoyan is convinced that drivers respect the law by wearing their safety belts on and that "it is also a psychological matter".
Member of the Prosperous Armenia Party Ernest Soghomonyan touched upon the issue of cars with tinted windows and proposed to differentiate between the poor and the rich.
Deputy Chief of Police Artur Osikyan delivered a report on the amendments in the law "On Violations of Administrative Law by the Police". Responding to the deputies' speeches, he mentioned: "The safety belt is first and foremost necessary to protect drivers' heads regardless of size. Safety belts don't just protect body parts. Generally, we are ready to discuss all comments and suggestions presented in written form," he mentioned, adding that 36 policemen have been arrested for violating the law.
