Businesswoman going to sue Syunik Governor
Businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan is going to sue Governor of Syunik region Suren Khachatryan, who attacked her in the Armenia Marriott Hotel on November 14 and kicked her several times.
"I went to the hotel to meet some foreign guests. After the meeting I was speaking to several friends in the hall when Suren Khachatryan, without uttering a word, approached me and kicked me. I tried to escape but he gave me a second blow with his hand," Silva Hambardzumyan told journalists after the incident.
The businesswoman states that alongside with beating the governor also badmouthed her. MPs Samvel Sargsyan and Khachik Manukyan (both from the Republican Party) approached Suren Khachatryan and began scolding him for his misbehaviour.
Hambardzumyan explains the incident by her recent statement whereby she accused the governor of stealing equipment valued at 102 million drams from her gold mine.
"The hotel cameras recorded the incident. The footage will be attached to the case material," said Hambardzumyan.
She is hopeful that the country's leadership in the person of Serzh Sargsyan will give an adequate response to the incident.
The businesswoman is going to request the chief of police to ensure her security.
