Armenia's First President and Leader of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Levon Ter-Petrosyan today met with U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern.

Ter-Petrosyan presented ANC's stance on the country's political situation, calling the ambassador's attention to systemic corruption, lack of democratic freedoms, rigged elections, restrictions on mass media and escalating migration. As a solution to the situation, the ANC leader underscored the need for holding democratic elections and formation of legitimate authorities.

Levon Ter-Petrosyan also presented ANC's position on Armenian-Turkish relations, and settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

Participating at the meeting were U.S. Embassy Political Officer Christopher Anderson and ANC senior members Levon Zurabyan and Avetis Avagyan.
