S. Sargsyan's son-in-law resigns
By a decree of Serzh Sargsyan, the first deputy chief of presidential staff, Mikael Minasyan, has been relieved of his post.
According to some unverified sources, Mikael Minasyan will replace Armen Gevorgyan as Deputy Prime Minister. Gevorgyan, who is on a business trip at the moment, is expected to be relieved of his duties upon his return.
Mikael Minasyan said earlier that he was going to assist Hovik Abrahamyan (former parliament speaker) in electoral processes. As he said, he was going to ‘ensure Serzh Sargsyan's victory in the upcoming elections' and he views it as a priority task in current reality.
Minasyan is Sargsyan's son-in-law.
As reported on November 1, Armenian parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan is going resign his position to head the electoral headquarters of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK).
Earlier, Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree to relieve Armenian Police Chief Alik Sargsyan of his duties and to appoint him as a presidential advisor. By another decree, lieutenant general Vladimir Gasparyan was dismissed as Deputy Defense Minister and appointed to the post of Armenian Police Chief.
