The Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) will introduce Mushegh Petoyan as the party's new deputy in parliament. The Central Electoral Commission took this decision after an ensuing session today.

"The Commission had received the NA Chairman's protocol stating the fact that the PAP deputy Armen Melikyan had resigned," CEC President Tigran Mukuchyan told "A1+".

The Commission also discussed the order of holding elections of local self-government bodies in Armenia's rural communities in December.

The Commission defined which party representative would be president of the electoral commission and which representative would be secretary in order to maintain the proportion prescribed by the law.

The president and the secretary can't represent the parliamentary faction or the opposition. They have to be different," the CEC President explained.

The date of the upcoming parliamentary elections is still undecided. CEC President Tigran Mukuchyan mentioned that according to the RA Constitution, Serzh Sargsyan sets the date.

"This in itself means that the President's decree serves as legal grounds for setting the date of the elections. When it is released, we will know when the date is set," the President of the Central Electoral Commission said.
