Ombudsman reopens Rapid Response Service
The Rapid Response Service of Armenia's HRD/Ombudsman's Office will resume its activity on November 1, Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan told a news conference in Yerevan.
He says after assuming the new office, he closed the service which stirred up sharp criticism.
"The idea was undoubtedly a good one but the office lacked resources. The state did not fund us and the lack of budget affected the efficiency of the service," the ombudsman said adding that starting November 1 they will launch a three-digit hotline (‘116') that will operate round-the-clock.
The hotline will be available at weekends as well. Calls are free from all regions of the republic. The state budget has not allocated funds for the service to this date.
The activity of the Rapid Response Service was terminated earlier in April due to its operational inefficiency. To provide for continuity before the introduction of a new service, the known phone number continued to receive urgent complaints during business hours.
