PM receives winning managers
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan today received the three managers that won this year's IT Managers Contest after passing a two-week training course at Stanford Executive Institute in August.
Attending the meeting were Director of Synopsis Armenia, president of the awards commission Hovik Musayelyan and Director General of VivaCell-MTS, member of the awards commission Ralph Yirikian.
The managers that passed the training course at Stanford Executive Institute were motivated as they spoke of the outcome and shared their impressions. They particularly mentioned that the two-week intensive training gave them the opportunity to get acquainted with the management and organization of leading IT companies and expressed willingness to transmit their knowledge to other IT experts. It was mentioned that the contacts established during the courses have led to an agreement on holding an IT Start-up Weekend in December 2011.
Placing importance on the development of the IT sphere in Armenia, the head of government mentioned: "I am pleased to see your motivation. That also motivates the government and brings a new sweep to the IT expositions. The quantity and quality of participants, the products and questions make it clear that there is a qualitative change taking place in this sphere."
According to the government's department of information and public relations, head of the awards commission Hovik Musayelyan informed that this year there were more IT managers from Armenia than the CIS countries.
During the meeting, views on the current state and trends of development of IT in Armenia were exchanged.
The idea of holding annual awards for IT managers was born two years ago when Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited Synopsis Armenia. The goal of the contest is to help raise the level of quality of IT managers in Armenia and give managers working for different companies the opportunity to participate in training courses at notable universities around the world.
