To raise Tigran Arakelyan’s issue at rally
The Armenian National Congress (ANC) will touch upon the issue of young activist, political prisoner Tigran Arakelyan at the next rally on October 28. Tigran Arakelyan has been in prison for more than two months now.
"Tigran Arakelyan will always receive legal and political support from the Armenian National Congress," RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan's press speaker Arman Musinyan told "A1+".
On August 9, seven ANC activists, including Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan, Sargis Gevorgyan, Areg Gevorgyan, Sahak Muradyan, David Kiramijyan and Vahagn Gevorgyan were arrested after an incident that took place near Swan Lake.
Let us remind that the court had applied imprisonment as a precautionary measure only for Tigran Arakelyan.
The court's ruling served as grounds for the termination of dialogue between the ANC and the authorities.
ANC legal support center correspondent Armen Khachatryan told "A1+" that the preliminary investigation continues. The investigation has stopped two times and has restarted.
On September 13, the chief investigative department of the RA Police announced the end of the preliminary inquiry, but RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan assigned to transmit the case to the Special Investigative Service for further preliminary investigation on September 16.
What served as grounds for this decision was the fact that the other seven activists had given testimonies of not subjecting to the police officers, and that is why the prosecutor's office took the decision "based on the need for an objective and multifaceted investigation of the case".
