The sitting of the Ministers of Interior Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) kicked off in Yerevan on October 14. The meeting brought together Interior Ministers from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

"The fast occurring political processes in the CIS countries, negative financial and economic phenomena, as well as their impact raise a necessity for reconciling the strategy of actions and strengthening further cooperation between the member states," Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said in his addressing speech.

He noted that the sitting participants have developed a good tradition of referring to the struggle against crime, saying the results are worth the highest grades.
"Terrorism, organized crime, illegal circulation of weapons, illegal migration and trafficking do not know political and territorial boundaries. Today, they represent a great challenge, a serious threat to national security and state institutions. We need to joint our efforts in the fight against international crime. I am convinced that today's session will focus on the development of such cooperation," Tigran Sargsyan said adding that the issues to be discussed at the sitting are urgent not only in Armenia, but in all CIC countries.

The sitting will discuss issues related to the further improvement of cooperation between the Interior Ministries of the CIS countries.
