Baghdasaryan gave promises to Russia
Political scientist Ruben Mehrabyan advises Sergey Averchenko, Advisor of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, to realize his ideas in his homeland.
On Tuesday, October 10, Averchenko surprised the political scientist after he proposed the Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia, Artur Baghdasaryan, to reconsider Armenia's attitude towards the latest draft law on foreign language schools. The proposal received a positive reply by the NCS Secretary who promised to correct the situation.
"I would like to ask Arthur Baghdasaryan to interpret his answer. Does his pledge imply that the Russia is going to interfere in the affairs of Armenia? Baghdasaryan was to put the chill on the Russian official but unfortunately, he did not do it," said Mehrabyan.
Speaking about the main purpose of the Union of Armenians of Russia, the political scientist said, "President of the Union Ara Abrahamyan made it clear that the Union is going to ensure votes for Vladimir Putin. Ara Abrahamian is a Russian citizen and is free to create any union in Russia. The question is how it will benefit Armenia."
During yesterday's meeting at the Moscow House in Yerevan, Ara Abrahamyan told Sergey Averchenko that there was no need for concern because the Armenians in Russia have already made their decision and are going to vote for Vladimir Putin at the forthcoming presidential elections in Russia.
Continuing Abrahamyan's thought, the Russian official said it derives from Armenia's interests.
"No one has a right to dictate us which is beneficial or harmful to Armenia, especially if the issue concerns presidential elections in some other country. The president of that country should first of all protect the interests of his people," said the political scientist adding that Ambassador Averchenko went beyond his authorities.
