Heritage calls government’s attention to landslide-stricken area
Anahit Bakhshyan, a member of parliament from the opposition Heritage Party, is displeased with government's attitude towards the missing people.
"On Saturday I visited the relatives of Sorsumatyan brothers who were declared missing after the landslide. I was shocked to find their ten children, wives and relatives in utter uncertainty. I could not find any words to console the desperate relatives," the Heritage MP said in a statement.
"Instead, I felt a deep shame for the government and officials of Kanaker-Zeytun community since they lacked elementary treatment. Are they waiting for the assignment of the president or prime minister in order to visit the family and render them state attention or psychological assistance? This is another manifestation of government's indifference and inexcusable treatment towards our citizens," said Anahit Bakhshyan.
The Heritage demands that the government take drastic measures to help the families of persons who were reported missing in the landslide-affected area.
The landslide hit the 83rd kilometer of the highway at 7:02 pm on October 2, causing a major collapse in the vicinities of Ayrum station, near the border with Georgia. The 130-meter-long and 60-meter-deep terrain covered the road, rendering it completely impassable and trapping 35 vehicles.
The bodies of Sorsumatyan brothers were found in the area today morning.
