“I call on you to have honor”
Chairman of the Armenian Pan-National Movement (HHSh) board Aram Manukyan began his speech at Freedom Square with a piece of information.
He mentioned that the Don Quijote performance was taking place at the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, and that the spectators are living a different life with different values and aren't interested in what is going on around them. "They are not only pretending to be blind, but are also making the rest shut their eyes," Manukyan announced.
According to him, in reality, the political authorities, which are only composed of a couple of people, can't create the situation in which we are living by themselves.
"All societies have a layer of society that is only interested in money. But there is also a layer of society that is interested in the country's future for which it struggles," Manukyan underlined.
He also mentioned that it is an honor for any country to have such citizens that are ready to fight against any brutal force for their ideas. Aram Manukyan compared the rally participants with the 500 insurgents of the Artsakh war who achieved victory through small efforts and sacrifice.
"The presence of families of the victims of March 1 make me not leave this square. I call on you to have honor. You are not average people. You are shaping history and have the right to think of the struggle," the HHSh board chairman announced.
In her speech, Chairperson of the Social-Democratic Hnchakyan Party Lyudmila Sargsyan noted that the more the people keep silent, the more vulnerable they will be. That is why the people should lead an informed struggle since they won't achieve anything by sitting at home and complaining. "We have no right to complain," Sargsyan said, adding that the people will make the authorities meet the demands.
