“Changes are inevitable”
Leader of the People's Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchyan began his speech at Freedom Square by citing Serzh Sargsyan's words that we will have a stronger Armenia in 20 years.
"We can and must turn Armenia into a democratic, prosperous and developed country, and for that we must extirpate the existing criminal oligarchic system in the country, change the quality of governance, not allow people hold high offices by chance, change the government's attitude toward citizens of Armenia and the citizens must shape a government through free, democratic elections," Stepan Demirchyan announced.
However, he said if things continue at this rate, we will have an emptied country and a poverty-stricken nation.
"We won't tolerate that. Today, everyone realizes that it is impossible to continue like this. The incumbent regime talks about changes, but the past years have shown that the regime is incapable of implementing necessary reforms for our country. Poverty, unemployment, growth of emigration, social polarization, despair and decline of morale-this is the current image of the country," the leader of the PPA said.
According to him, changes are inevitable since that is what the people of Armenia demand. "The people are striving to live in this country, and that strive will ensure the victory of democratic and justice in our country," Stepan Demirchyan said in closing.
