Armenian Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan met in Berlin with Norbert Lammert, President of the German Bundestag.

Mr. Lammert noted that there is a great potential for cooperation. For his part, Hovik Abrahamyan said Armenia is interested in expanding relations in bilateral and multilateral formats and considers Armenian-German cooperation to be an important component on the path to European integration.

The interlocutors also dwelt on regional issues, specifically the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and Armenian-Turkish relations. In this context, the Armenian parliament speaker noted that Turkey did not only fail to continue the peace talks but also put forth certain clauses that had nothing to do with the provisions of the Armenian-Turkish Protocols.

Speaking about the Armenian Genocide, Mr. Lammert noted that in 2005 the German parliament adopted a resolution condemning the Genocide, the forcible exile of the Armenians, and also the German government's role in the issue.

At the end of the meeting, Hovik Abrahamyan invited Lammert to Armenia. The Armenian delegation also toured the German Bundestag.
