Police as the accused
Support A1+!Young activist Artak Karapetyan will confront police officers today.
Police officers may be included in the case against 7 Armenian National Congress activists, and the activists may become the injured parties, the youth's attorney Stepan Voskanyan told "A1+".
The Special Investigative Service is examining the ANC activists' case. Most of the youth have given new testimonies, after which there has been a need to have them confront the police officers.
"The youth presented which police officers beat them, when and in whose presence. They answered which high-ranking police officers were present, didn't interfere and encouraged it," said Stepan Voskanyan.
Stepan Voskanyan says the Special Investigative Service will help clarify the details and give an evaluation of the actions of the specific individuals. "I don't rule out the quashing of the case," said the lawyer.
The case was instigated on August 9 after the incident between ANC youth activists and police officers near Swan Lake in Yerevan.
Six of the activists were released by a pawn or signature, but Tigran Arakelyan's precautionary measure, that is, arrest, remained unchanged and that became the reason for the freeze of the ANC-authorities dialogue.
