"The people have to be the owner of their own fate," said leader of the People's Party Tigran Karapetyan during the "National Front" assembly that he personally organized today.

Tigran Karapetyan showed up to the event without a tie.

"A tie is not an indicator. Many officials and ministers wear costumes and ties, but they have to open their hearts and see what there is inside," said Karapetyan, adding that he would be starting a series of rallies in October to push people to take decisive steps.

During the solemn sesson, the leader of the "National Front" criticized, in his words, "the position and the opposition" and called on the people to become the owners of their own fate.

Tigran Karapetyan also recalled that he had done good things for hundreds of thousands of people, but now those people are not by his side. Nevertheless, he announced that he would definitely be participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections in the "National Front" format.

On September 23, 1990, in the same hall that the "National Front" held an assembly today, the Supreme Council of Armenia, accepting as a basis the results of the September 21 independence referendum, proclaimed Armenia a sovereign, independent state. The results of the referendum were presented by then Vice-Chairman of the Supreme Council Babken Ararktsyan.
