Serzh Sargsyan continues to receive congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia.

Congratulatory message of President of France Nikolay Sarkozy

"Distinguished President, on behalf of me and the French people, I would like to congratulate you and all Armenians on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Armenia. On September 21, 1991, Armenia reestablished its connection to history and became the owner of its own fate once again. Armenia can take pride in all that it has done in the past twenty years, very often in difficult conditions.

Armenia shaped democracy, made the transition to a market economy and found its place on the international stage, and it did that thanks to the people's courage and diligence.

Throughout these years, France and Armenia, which have been strongly and historically linked, have developed and deepened the fruitful cooperation in all spheres.

Be rest assured that France is by its friendly Armenia's side and will help the country confront its challenges. I will have the opportunity to congratulate you once again and express France's friendship during your official visit to Paris soon and I will have the honor and pleasure of visiting Armenia on a state visit."
