1,100 tons of Elita wheat fertilizer imported
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan today attended the discharge of wagons of 1,100 tons of high-quality Elita wheat fertilizers imported from Stavropol, Russia.
The government's department of information and public relations reports that Prime Minister Sargsyan personally heard the opinions of farmers and beneficiaries of the imported fertilizer regarding the quality of the wheat.
Farmers assured the prime minister that they had produced 220,000 tons of 7 types of wheat from the 950 tons of wheat fertilizer imported last year instead of the previous 183,000.
There are 9-10,000 beneficiaries with 0.1-3 ha of land and they will receive the first 2,900 tons of fertilizers for reproduction. Compared to last year, this year the price set for the import of a kilogram has reduced. In 2010, Armenia imported wheat fertilizer for the equivalent of a dollar from Russia, but this year the price of imported wheat fertilizer is nearly equivalent to 75 cents.
The government had given consent to the 2010-2014 fertilizing program developed by the Ministry of Agriculture, and for the second year, Armenia is importing the Elita wheat fertilizer, which will be distributed to villagers with 7 or more ha of land.
