RA Armed Forces to open response fire in case of need
The commanders that have seen war are often more dedicated soldiers than the young officers, and will prove that in case of need," RA Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan said. He also responded to "A1+"'s question on whether it was appropriate to send commanders that participated in the Artsakh liberation struggle to pension and replenish the Armed Forces with young officers.
According to the minister, there are currently 26 residences of the Republic of Armenia located in the zone of accessibility of Azerbaijan's arms, which is frequently bombed.
Out of those residences, 20 are located in the northeast borderline of the country, one is in Ararat province and five are in Vayots Dzor province.
On the other hand, according to Seyran Ohanyan, 30 Azerbaijani residences are located in the zone of accessibility of the RA Armed Forces.
"However, unlike Azerbaijan, Armenia doesn't misuse that. With that we show that we are against any ceasefire violation," the minister said, adding that in case of need, the Armenian Army will take similar action and will open fire in response.
Mandatory military service time won't change
RA Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan denies rumors that the period of mandatory military service will change and assures that it will remain two years. He also says the Ministry of Defense is trying to promote military service as a profession.
C-400 instead of C-300
In the near future, the Russian C-300 anti-missile systems will be replaced with the more modern, C-400 systems, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said. Touching upon the preparations for the military parade devoted to the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence on September 21, Seyran Ohanyan mentioned that that wasn't going to be in response to the recent parade held in Azerbaijan. "Through this parade, we will show our army's efficiency," Armenia's defense minister said.
