Either results, or confrontation
After the two and a half hour Armenian National Congress (HAK)-authorities dialogue, HAK coordinator Levon Zurabyan told journalists: "I can congratulate you sand say that an agenda was formed during today's meeting."
The HAK proposed to introduce the issue of holding snap presidential and parliamentary elections on the agenda, and that issue was included.
Head of the coalition's delegation David Harutyunyan announced that he didn't accept communication through announcements, hinting the HAK's statement and also informed how the agenda was formed. "The issues on the agenda were proposed by the HAK and the working group." The coalition proposes to form rules for ensuring civilized political competition for holding elections in a duly manner.
The coalition's delegation denied the Congress's demand for half an hour airtime after each meeting. Despite that, David Harutyunyan noted that the sides had come to an agreement. If they started broadcasting the working meetings, the level of efficiency would decline and it would mean that this was all a show.
David Harutyunyan said the sides hadn't come to terms on the issue of whether the negotiating forces had equal advocacy opportunities. After the previous meeting, light was shed on both sides' positions.
As far as the Congress's proposal to broadcast video clips showing the Congress's rallies on television, HAK representative Levon Zurabyan said the governmental delegation still hadn't responded to that demand.
How likely is it that the government will agree with the demand for snap elections? in response, Levon Zurabyan said: "I think it is as likely as Armenia's advancement is."
The HAK coordinator also mentioned that they still consider September the deadline for summing up the results of the dialogue.
"The country is in the most serious political crisis, and we view a peaceful road as the best way to get out of that political crisis. That is why we are negotiating," said Zurabyan.
What will happen if there is no result through peace? In response, Zurabyan said: "Then there will be confrontation".
"I don't think that is a real intention because I have a good opinion of the other negotiating side. If they made such a statement, they did it strictly with strategic considerations," announced David Harutyunyan, adding that there was no tension during the meeting.
"We worked very efficiently," said David Harutyunyan.
The next meeting will be held on August 4 at 12 p.m. The issues on the agenda will be discussed.
