OSCE MG Co-Chairs arrive in region
OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Robert Bradtke (U.S.) and Igor Popov (Russia) arrived in Baku on July 14 to meet with Azerbaijani leadership. French Co-Chair Bernard Fassier will join them today, Azerbaijani news agencies reported.
After completing their meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, the Co-Chairs will visit Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia.
For the first time in recent years, official Baku expressed a positive opinion on holding a referendum to determine Karabakh's future status. In an interview with Russia's Interfax news agency, Elmar Mammadyarov expressed hope that during the referendum the Armenians of Karabakh will vote to stay in the territory of Azerbaijan.
"We should prove them that they will benefit more if they stay with us," said the Azerbaijani FM.
