More control in Delhi
Security has become more restricted in Delhi and several other large Indian cities. This comes after 121 people died and 141 were injured after a terrorist attack in Mumbay, India last night.
Terrorists used explosive devices in three sectors of Mumbay, two in the eastern part of the city near the Opera theater building and the Zaveri market and one in central Mumbay. According to the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one of the explosives was placed in a bus and another was placed in a motorcycle. According to the initial version, the terrorist act was organized by the "Indian Mojaheds" grouping that has close ties with another grouping called "Laker E Taiba", which is based in Pakistan.
Mumbay, which is considered a large trade city, has become a target for terrorist acts several times. The last large terrorist attack took place on 26 November 2008, leaving 166 dead. During that attack, terrorists shot people on the streets, after which they seized one of the local hotels for two days and destroyed it later. Only one terrorist stayed alive. He was sentenced to death, but appealed the court ruling at the appeals court and is now waiting for a decision. Indian mass media outlets announced that the day of the terrorist attack was not chosen by chance. July 13 is the birthday of the terrorist that stayed alive, and according to one of the versions, that is how the terrorists tried to celebrate his birthday.
Indian authorities have already appealed to Google, Skype and other large social networks to let them enter their databases. According to the official Delhi, that way the authorities can control terrorist acts in preparation.
