Our greatest deviation

The Constitution is the fundamental law of any country, but Armenians still don't realize its significance, says one of the founding members of the "Karabakh" Committee Ashot Manucharyan.

"The Constitution is about setting limits. People gather and try to understand their direction in life. Armenians have never participated in such a process. We took the French Constitution, read it a little, copied it and said this is how we should live," Mr. Manucharyan told "A1+".

Manucharyan says what is written in the RA Constitution has nothing to do with the people.

"If we understood what it means to set limits, we would have been living differently. We look at everything on the surface."

Mentioning that the process of writing a Constitution is ongoing, Manucharyan said: "No people can say they created a committee, wrote a Constitution and will touch upon it ten years later. The people gather the wisest people who constantly realize the goal of life, the deviations and speak about them with the society. If there is no such system, that nation is condemned to face huge problems. The people will always think that 100 dollars or 100 Jeeps are not enough to solve those problems."

Ashot Manucharyan says the Armenian society's greatest deviation is that it has lost awareness of people, why they are born, why they live and what the type of Armenian is.

Is today a holiday for you? In response, Ashot Manucharyan said: "Yes, of course it is a holiday. It's Paruyr Hayrikyan's birthday."
