Editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily newspaper, former political prisoner Nikol Pashinyan doesn't share the society's view that he will soon replace RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan as the new leader of the pan-national movement.

"I don't think the ANC needs generation change now because the generations are harmonious and are working together. The need for generation change emerges when the generations are no longer able to work together. I don't see such a perspective for the Armenian National Congress, at least not in the visible future," said Nikol Pashinyan who gave his first press conference after a three-year interval.

To those who claim that the ANC made a deal with the authorities for a pledge of mandates in parliament, Nikol Pashinyan reassured that the Armenian National Congress would never make a deal with the authorities.

"I rule out any obscene deals between the ANC and the authorities," said Pashinyan.

When asked about the date for snap parliamentary elections, Pashinyan said there was no fixed date and that the ANC is fighting until the goals are achieved.

According to Nikol Pashinyan, snap parliamentary and presidential elections serve as the only way to mitigate the social-economic state in the country.

"When Levon Ter-Petrosyan says the ANC will take into account the authorities' views, we believe there is a road to overcome the inter-political crisis that we have not taken into account," added Pashinyan.

Nikol Pashinyan says in the last three years, the authorities proved that they are unable to get the country out of the current situation due to the deepening of the crisis that existed in all spheres that were already in a crisis.

When asked whether the opposition had its share of the blame for the events of March 1 or not, Nikol Pashinyan said the opposition was only guilty of allowing the formation of an obscene government that executed the people in the heart of the city and assured that the opposition would never let something like that happen again.

The ANC representative also said he didn't see himself as part of the delegation that will negotiate with the authorities.
