The release of political prisoners Nikol Pashinyan and Sasun Mikaelyan will lead to political changes, says the spokesman of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK).

Arman Musinyan is hopeful that his jailed colleagues will be released and present at the HAK's next rally.

"Pashinyan and Mikaelyan are key opposition figures and their presence will give fresh impetus to the May 31 rally," Musinyan told a press conference on May 27.

The HAK spokesman says the authorities would not have declared an amnesty but for the opposition's mounting pressure.

Regarding the political dialogue between the authorities and opposition, Musinyan said that the HAK will speak about it in its nationwide rally on May 31, which will mark the next stage of the political process.

"HAK has already worked out its future steps which, however, are not definite and final, given the dynamics of political processes," Musinyan noted.

"The only way out of political crisis is to hold early elections," said Musinyan adding that Levon Ter-Petrosyan will become Armenia's next President.
