Republican headman loses to his nonpartisan rival

A nonpartisan candidate won the elections for village headman in Ohanavan, Aragatsotn marz, on May 22.

Three candidates were running for the position: incumbent headman, Republican Nshan Misakyan, freelance Amasik Misakyan and Alexan Alexanyan.

According to preliminary information, Misakyan gained 566 votes while his rivals Amasik Misakyan and Alexan Alexanyan correspondinly received 228 and 610 votes.

About 1452 people participated in the vote. Forty-eight ballots were recognized as invalid, the Central Election Commission reports.
