National Assembly to discuss amnesty proposal in special sitting
On Friday, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan applied to the National Assembly with a proposal to announce amnesty on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Armenia's independence.
The National Assembly will discuss Serzh Sargsyan's proposal in a special sitting, NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said on Monday in the Armenian parliament. The special sitting is likely to be held on May 25.
Currently, the National Assembly is discussing the amendments to the Criminal and Administrative Codes, which, according to Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Issues David Harutyunyan, will allow applying amnesty in a wider frame.
