Armenia lacks serious concepts
Though violations of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) are made public in Armenia, few people appeal to courts for compensation, Deputy Head of RA Intellectual Property Agency Andranik Khachikyan said on Friday during the first seminar on protection of intellectual property.
Secretary of the Armenian National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan stressed public awareness about relevant legislation as essential in protection of its intellectual property.
"We lack serious concepts. For example, let us take the sphere of human rights protection which lacks concrete programs and schedule. We still have a lot to do in this direction," said Arthur Baghdasaryan.
"The European Union expects Armenia to conduct serious reforms in intellectual property sector," he added, urging for institutional and legislative reforms.
The NSC Secretary expressed hope that the Armenia-Denmark consortium due in January 2012 will enable reforms in the sector through Euro 1,1 million to be allocated for this purpose. Under the document Armenia has to adjust its IPR sphere with European standards.
