“The criminal is in S. Sargsyan’s way”
ANC member, chair of the Social-Democrat (Hnchakyan) Party Lyudmila Sargsyan doesn't treat sociologist Aharon Adibekyan's predictions and evaluations seriously.
"It's strange when they say a political force, especially when it's the authorities, has monopolized the field. The field is open. Whoever can lead the mass, like the ANC is doing, should lead it and it will reach success. They shouldn't try to find the reason for their failures within the ANC," Mrs. Sargsyan told "A1+", touching upon Mr. Aharonyan's statement that the ANC is trying to monopolize the entire opposition.
Mrs. Sargsyan understands the fact that on the one hand, the authorities are permitting the ANC's rally and on the other hand, they are closing roads and arresting ANC activists.
"I understand very well what is going on within the government today. Serzh Sargsyan assesses the gravity of the situation in the country and is trying to initiate a dialogue, but he also has a problem within the country, which is in danger. If Serzh Sargsyan is taking steps toward dialogue, his team gets the impression that he is ceding power. If I were part of Serzh Sargsyan's team, I would think the same way. That is why Serzh Sargsyan's team is doing everything possible to have as few people come to the ANC rally and not have the revolution mature."
According to Lyudmila Sargsyan, the authorities could have fulfilled Levon Ter-Petrosyan's three primary demands three years ago and not have the country reach such a critical state.
"The criminal is what is standing in Serzh Sargsyan's way. He came to power through that criminal and is held accountable to that criminal."
Mrs. Sargsyan fully trusts Levon Ter-Petrosyan and finds that giving the authorities until May 31 to fulfill the third demand, that is, the release of all political prisoners was a right decision.
