“New mockery?”
In 42 days, on June 10, Oriental studies expert, journalist Murad Bojolyan will be released after being sentenced to prison for 10 years for betraying the homeland and spying for Turkey, but Bojolyan didn't accept the charge. Bojolyan considers himself a political prisoner.
The authorities' latest statements on the release of political prisoners served as an occasion for Murad Bojolyan's relatives to announce that they have no expectations from the current authorities.
"They sentenced my husband to 10 years without any evidence. Throughout the past 10 years, he has become ill, has undergone an operation and we lost our apartment and all we had for his treatment. We expect neither amnesty nor a premature release from the authorities. They are remembering this when my husband will be released in 42 days. Is this a unique mockery?" Murad Bojolyan's wife Lyudmila Bojolyan told "A1+".
Recently, Murad Bojolyan, who is at "Yerevan-Kentron" penitentiary, sent an open letter to RA Minister of Justice Hrair Tovmasyan. In his letter, Bojolyan said the minister assured that no prisoner has set an example, has fines and has exercised the right to premature release. Bojolyan also stated that the illegitimate inter-departmental commission on premature release is still keeping many prisoners whose sentencing is over and who have not had any fines. He went on to say that the commission has examined his case with a two-year delay and has always been denied without any corroboration. "In the past two years, I have refused to appeal to the commission since the concept of premature release is meaningless and my time will end soon," said Bojolyan.
