R. Hovhannisian: “U.S. history on the scale”
Leader of "Heritage" party Raffi Hovhannisian says if U.S. President Barack Obama didn't pronounce the word "genocide", that is first and foremost his and the American people's problem.
"What's on the scale is not only the Armenian Genocide and the deprivation of the homeland, but also U.S. policy, the testimonies of American ambassadors, consuls and citizens that prove the genocide in U.S. state archives," Raffi Hovhannisian today told "A1+".
Hovhannisian is optimistic and says there will come a time when the U.S. will not only officially recognize the Armenian Genocide, but will reaffirm it as well.
"There must be political reaffirmation, but not in response to Armenians' pleads and requests, but from the angle of reaffirmation of Americans' morale and political interest," says Mr. Hovhannisian.
The founding leader of the party also says not only the U.S., but all mankind will condemn the Armenian Genocide ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Great Genocide.
"It will happen when Armenia becomes a strong, democratic country that knows its interests."
Today members of "Heritage" party and supporters marched from Freedom Square to Tsitsernakaberd in silence without any logos and party flags.
The representative of the Hovhannisians. who experienced genocide, kneeled and paid tribute to the 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide near the eternal flame.
